The four-year Theology Program is focused on the four key dimensions of formation: human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral. Theological College strictly follows the Program of Priestly Formation delineated in Pastores Dabo Vobis. Every seminarian receives personal discernment guidance with the support of his priest spiritual director in the internal forum and his formation advisor in the external forum.

At Catholic University’s School of Theology and Religious Studies, seminarians take courses in scripture, systematic theology, moral theology, liturgical studies, spirituality, canon law, and pastoral theology. They may also benefit from courses offered by eight other independent schools of theology that form the Washington Theological Union in Washington, D.C.

The following ecclesiastical degree programs are offered:

  • Master of Divinity (M.Div.)
  • Baccalaureate of Sacred Theology (S.T.B.)
  • Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.)
  • Doctor of Sacred Theology (S.T.D.)
  • Doctor of Ministry Degree (D. Min.)
